Abstract
Di tengah pesatnya perkembangan alat transportasi laut di Indonesia, masyarakat di beberapa daerah masih menggunakan alat transportasi tradisional sebagai moda transportasi laut. Berkaitan dengan hal itu, masyarakat Mandar, Provinsi Sulawesi Barat, menggunakan perahu sandeq sebagai alat transportasi untuk berlayar. Sandeq merupakan jenis perahu layar bercadik yang telah lama digunakan melaut oleh nelayan Mandar sebagai alat transportasi antar pulau dan memiliki ukuran yang bervariasi. Di kiri dan di kanan perahu sandeq terdapat lengan cadik sebagai penyeimbang. Yang mana kekuatan lengan cadik merupakan hal yang sangat penting untuk diperhatikan. Saat ini perahu sandeq yang telah banyak dibuat dan dikembangkan memiliki kekurangan yaitu sering terjadi patah pada lengan cadik tersebut. Oleh sebab itu, perlu diketahui nilai deformasi dan tegangan von mises yang terjadi pada lengan katir dengan variasi sudut lengan 90°, 100°, 110°, 120° dan 130° untuk meminimalisir terjadinya patah pada lengan katir tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, analisis dilakukan menggunakan software berbasis elemen hingga. Hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai tegangan dan deformasi untuk variasi sudut lengan 90°, 100°, 110°, 120° dan 130° masing-masing yaitu sebesar 17.791 MPa dan 19.938 mm, 20.296 MPa dan 25.15 mm, 32.509 MPa dan 32.169 mm, 38.769 MPa dan 42.965 mm serta 75.939 MPa dan 65.183 mm.
