Abstract
Kapal kontainer digunakan untuk mengangkut muatan yang terkemas pada peti-peti (kontainer) yang berukuran standar. Dalam pelayarannya di laut, kapal akan mengalami puntiran. Akibat puntiran yang terjadi, kapal akan mengalami perubahan bentuk yang menyebabkan bagian lubang palka menjadi melentur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tegangan maksimum puntiran yang terjadi pada kapal kontainer dan mengetahui nilai factor safety. Penelitian ini menggunakan software berbasis metode elemen hingga. Hasil tegangan maksimum yang didapatkan akibat muatan pada kondisi 50% adalah sebesar 26.451 MPa, kondisi 75% sebesar 39.676 MPa, dan pada kondisi 100% sebesar 52.902 MPa. Lalu, hasil tegangan maksimum akibat beban gelombang pada kondisi 50% adalah sebesar 96.905 MPa, kondisi 75% sebesar 232.57 Mpa dan pada 100% sebesar 193.81 MPa. Nilai safety factor yang didapatkan akibat beban muatan kondisi 50% adalah 13.42, 75% adalah 8.94 dan 100% adalah 6.71, kemudian untuk beban akibat gelombang pada kondisi 50% adalah 3.66 , kondisi 75% adalah 2.44 dan kondisi 100% adalah 1.83.
