Abstract

Penerapan mandatori B30 yang mendorong produksi biodiesel dari tahun 2010 – 2020 secara linear meningkatkan produksi domestik crude glycerol sebagai hasil samping reaksi transesterifikasi. Diketahui dalam 5 tahun terakhir (2016 – 2020), Indonesia mengalami surplus crude glycerol dengan nilai peningkatan 80.500 ton/tahun. Propilen glikol adalah komoditas produk kimia yang dapat diturunkan dari gliserol. Terdapat kesamaan ciri struktur poliol yang membuatnya berpotensi dapat disintesis dari gliserol. Berdasarkan analisa pasar yang telah dilakukan terhadap kebutuhan propilen glikol dalam negeri, pra-rancangan pabrik propilen glikol berbahan dasar crude glycerol dinilai dapat menjadi suatu kajian yang strategis. Pabrik direncanakan akan didirikan di Kota Bekasi, Provinsi Jawa Barat dengan kapasitas produksi 40.000 ton/tahun. Di dalam pabrik, propilen glikol akan diproduksi dari reaksi katalitik hidrogenolisis crude glycerol dengan urutan alur proses yang terdiri atas pre-treatment untuk proses penghilangan warna, sintesis untuk reaksi utama, dan purifikasi untuk memisahkan pengotor hingga diperoleh persentase kemurnian 99,7% (USP Grade). Analisis evaluasi ekonomi pra-rancangan pabrik propilen glikol dari proses katalitik hidrogenolisis crude glycerol kapasitas 40.000 ton/tahun diperoleh nilai ROI sebesar 28%, nilai PBP 5,3 tahun, nilai NPV sebesar Rp681.500.000.000, DCFRR > MARR yaitu 25%, BEP dan SDP berurutan masing-masing sebesar 40% dan 22% dari kapasitas total.
