Abstract

ABSTRAK Pra rancangan pabrik natrium silikat dari abu sekam padi dengan kapasitas 42.000 ton/tahun akan dibangun di Provinsi Jawa Barat, tepatnya di kabupaten Indramayu. Bahan baku berupa sekam padi diperoleh dari rumah produksi padi yang terletak di sekitar kawasan pabrik pendirian di kabupaten Indramayu. Pabrik natrium silikat dirancang untuk beroperasi selama 24 jam/hari dalam kurun waktu 330 hari/tahun.Pembentukan natrium silikat diawali dengan proses pembakaran sekam padi pada suhu 500oC pada tekanan operasi1 atm menggunakanrotary kiln(RK-101)sebagai media pembakarnya. Hasil pembakaran berupa abu sekam padi lalu didinginkan menggunakanrotary cooler(RC-101)hingga mencapai suhu 45oC. Kemudian abu dibawa menujumixing tank(M-201)untuk dilakukanprosesleaching menggunakan larutan HCl 8%. Proses pemisahan dilakukan menggunakan centrifuge(CE-201) untuk memisahkan HCl yang membawa impurities dan kandungan SiO2pada abu. Lalu, SiO yang sudah bersih dari kandungan HCl dan impurities dibawa menuju reaktor CSTR (R-201) untuk direaksikan dengan larutan NaOH 50%. Sebelummasuk reaktor, larutan NaOH 50% dipanaskan terlebih dahulu hingga bersuhu 95oC. Kemudian pada reaktor, direaksikan SiO2dengan NaOH pada suhu reaktor 95oC dan tekanan 1 atm. Reaksi berlangsung dengan konversi 95%. Setelah itu, larutan Na2SiO3yang terbentuk dialirkan menuju evaporator (E-201) untuk memisahkan kandungan air tersisa pada larutan. Setelah melalui evaporator, larutan Na2SiO3didinginkan hingga suhu40oC sebelum masuk kristalizer(K-201). Tingkat yield kristalisasi larutan Na2SiO3mecapai 95%. Padatan kristal Na2SiO3diangkut menujuball mill(BM-201) lalu diperkecil ukurannya hingga 100 mesh menggunakanvibrating screen(S-201). Kristal Na2SiO3yang sudah berukuran 100 mesh disimpan pada sili sebelum dipacking.Berdasarkan analisa ekonomi diketahui bahwa pabrikmemerlukan modal tetap sebesar $ 27.763.932,84, modal kerja sebesar $ 4.899.517,56, POT sesudah pajak 2,4 tahun, ROI sesudah pajak 32,95%, BEP sebesar 22,11%, SDP 10,20%,dan DCFR 23%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pra rancangan natirum silikat layak untuk didirikan di Indonesia. Kata Kunci:Abu Sekam Padi, Biomassa, Natrium Silikat, Silika Dioksida
