Abstract

Pra rancangan pabrik kalsium karbida berbahan baku Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) dan limestone dengan kapasitas produksi 12.500 ton/tahun dilakukan dalam upaya memaksimalkan potensi sumber daya alam serta mewujudkan kemandirian Indonesia dalam memenuhi kebutuhan industri di dalam negeri. Produksi kalsium karbida secara umum terbagi menjadi tiga tahapan proses. Pertama, tahap persiapan bahan baku Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) dan limestone. Kedua, tahap sintesis produk intermediet biochar (pirolisis PKS) dan kalsium oksida (CaO) (kalsinasi batu kapur). Terakhir, tahap sintesis kalsium karbida dengan mereaksikan biochar dan CaO yang berlangsung pada suhu tinggi, yaitu 1.743°C. Pabrik ini akan dibangun di wilayah Kabupaten Kutai Timur, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, tepatnya di Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan (KEK MBTK) dengan luas tanah sebesar 40.260 m2 dengan memperkerjakan 100 orang karyawan yang terbagi menjadi 3 shift dengan 8 jam kerja per shift. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi, pendirian pabrik kalsium karbida membutuhkan Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) sebesar US$ 6.128.076 dan Working Capital Investment (WCI) sebesar US$ 1.081.425 sehingga Total Capital Investment (TCI) yang dibutuhkan sebesar US$ 7.209.501 dengan Total Production Cost (TPC) sebesar US$ 12.434.398. Pabrik kalsium karbida yang dirancang memiliki Return on Investment (ROI) sebesar 61,527%, Net Present Value (NPV) sebesar US$ 26.548.970, Discounted Cash Flow Rate of Return (DCFR) sebesar 32,676%, dan Discounted Payback Period (DPBP) sebesar 1,385 tahun. Berdasarkan parameter tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pabrik kalsium karbida yang dirancang layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.
