Abstract

Pra rancangan pabrik kitin dari kulit udang dengan kapasitas 22.550 ton/tahun akan dibangun di Kawasan Industri untuk mendukung pengembangan kawasan metropolitan Rebana, Cirebon, Jawa Barat. Bahan baku berupa kulit udang diperoleh dari pabrik udang dan kelompok budidaya udang di sekitar Cirebon, Jawa Barat, dan Jawa Tengah. Pabrik dirancang beroperasi secara semi-batch selama 330 hari dan 24jam per hari. Proses ekstraksi kitin diawali dengan mengurangi ukuran dari kulit udang menggunakan gyratory crusher (GC-101) menjadi 10 mesh. Kulit udang kemudian masuk ke furnace (F-101) untuk menaikkan temperature-nya menjadi 180°C. Selanjutnya kulit udang masuk ke tahap deproteinisasi dengan H2O sebagai reagent untuk melarutkan kandungan protein dalam deproteinization tank (T-201) pada tekanan 10 atm dan temperature 180°C dengan efisiensi 98%. Kemudian masuk ke unit rotary drum vacuum filter (RF-201) untuk memisahkan solid dan liquid. Cake kemudian masuk ke demineralization reactor (R-201) untuk tahap demineralisasi kandungan CaCO3 dengan bantuan reagent berupa H2O dan CO2 yang membentuk carbonic acid. Efisiensi demineralisasi sebesar 99%. Setelah itu, menuju ke unit rotary drum vacuum filter 2 (RF-301) dan unit rotary dryer (RD-301) untuk menghilangkan moisture content dalam padatan kitin. Selanjutnya padatan kitin didinginkan dengan cooling conveyor (CC-301) sebelum menuju ke hopper (H-301) sebagai tempat penyimpanan produk dengan kemurnian kitin mencapai 94,1%. Dari analisa ekonomi diketahui bahwa pabrik memerlukan fixed capital investment sebesar $ 89.419.113, working capital investment sebesar $ 16.090.843, payout time 1,9 tahun, return on investment 43,09 %, break even point 28 %, shutdown point 13.05 %, dan discounted cash flow return 27 %. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pra rancangan pabrik kitin layak untuk didirikan di Indonesia.
