Abstract

Pengembangan energi terbarukan terbukti dapat mengurangi kebutuhan akan energi fosil. Namun, energi terbarukan masih didominasi oleh energi air, biomassa, dan panas bumi. Pengembangan penelitian tentang energi air dan bioenergi telah dilakukan untuk mendukung transisi energi. Di Indonesia, energi angin dan energi matahari belum sepopuler energi air, biomassa, dan panas bumi. Energi angin merupakan sumber energi terbarukan terbesar ketiga setelah energi air dan matahari, sehingga memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan energi terbarukan sebagai persentase dari energi nasional. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan dalam pengembangan ialah mengoptimalkan desain turbin angin. Aspek geometris yang mempengaruhinya antara lain bentuk sudu, jumlah sudu, bertingkat dan penambahan deflektor. Geometri memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan kinerja turbin, meskipun faktor lain termasuk material. Dalam penelitian ini geometri turbin angin Savonius dikembangkan dengan penambahan slotted blade di mana ukuran gap slotted blade sebesar 3 mm dan slotted blade 20% kemudian dibuat bertingkat. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan ekxperimen langsung menggunakan wind tunnel. Variasi yang digunakan yaitu sudut geser pada second stage yaitu sebesar 0⁰, 45⁰ dan 90⁰. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PSA (Position Stage Angel) mempengaruhi kinerja turbin Savonius, dengan 0◦menjadi PSA optimal didapatkan CP sebesar 0,0097, TSR sebesar 0,7313, CT sebesar 0,0133. Kontur kecepatan angin dan kontur tekanan pada variasi sudut 0⁰ lebih maksimal dibandingkan variasi sudut lainnya sehingga gaya drag yang dihasilkan lebih maksimal.
