Abstract
Proses produksi stirena berbahan baku etilbenzena ini menggunakan fase gas sebagai bahan bakunya. Pabrik ini berkapasitas 110.000 ton/tahun yang akan beroperasi secara kontinyu. Dalam proses sintesis stirena, terdapat beberapa proses utama, antara lain persiapan bahan baku, reaksi, dan pemurnian produk stirena. Reaksi berlangsung di reaktor fixed bed pada suhu 600oC dan tekanan 1 atm. Hasil reaksi tersebut menghasilkan stirena, dan toluena, benzena sebagai produk samping serta pengotor. Keluaran dari reaktor diumpankan ke kondensor parsial untuk memisahkan pengotor seperti CO2 dan H2 dan mengkondensasikan produk (stirena, toluena, benzena). Keluaran dari kondensor parsial dialirkan ke dekanter untuk memisahkan sebagian air dengan produk. Hasil keluaran dekanter yang berupa cairan kemudian diumpankan ke menara distilasi dimurnikan. Selanjutnya, produk yang telah murni dimasukkan ke dalam tangki penyimpanan. Pabrik stirena ini direncanakan berdiri di daerah kawasan industri Cilegon, Banten dengan luas tanah 54,000 m2 dan memperkerjakan 170 karyawan. Adapun kebutuhan energi untuk pengoperasian pabrik ini meliputi kebutuhan listrik sebesar 2,625.46 kW dan steam untuk utilitas sebesar 14,196.23 kg/jam. Hasil kelayakan ekonomi, didapatkan perhitungan dengan modal tetap sebesar $137,094,526.63, modal kerja sebesar $17,479,552.15, dan biaya produksi sebesar $414,490,886.47. Selain itu analisis profitabilitas menunjukkan ROI sebesar 84%, BEP 58%, DCFR 32.08%, SDP 20%, DPBP 2.880 tahun, dan NPV $821,858,806.87. Kata Kunci : Stirena, Etilbenzena, Fixed bed
