Abstract

Phenethyl alcohol (C8H10O) merupakan cairan tidak berwarna yang memiliki bau kelompak mawar yang samar namun tahan lama. Phenethyl alcohol umumnya digunakan sebagai bahan pewangi pada produk kecantikan seperti parfum, skin care, sabun, dan kosmetik. Produksi phenethyl alcohol berbahan baku stirena oksida dan gas hidrogen ini berjalan pada fasa cair-gas dengan bantuan katalis padat melalui proses hidrogenasi. Proses produksi berlangsung secara kontinyu dengan beberapa proses utama antara lain persiapan bahan baku, proses reaksi, dan pemurnian produk. Tahap persiapan bahan baku digunakan untuk memperoleh bahan baku dan pendukung yang diperlukan seperti metanol dan natrium hidroksida. Kemudian proses reaksi berlangsung di dalam reaktor packed bed pada suhu 40 derajat Celcius dan tekanan 1 atm. Hasil reaksi berupa produk dan sisa reaktan akan dipisahkan pada tahap pemurnian produk. Pabrik ini direncanakan berdiri di Cilegon, Banten dan akan mempekerjakan sebanyak 240 karyawan dengan waktu pabrik beroperasi selama 24 jam dan 330 hari per tahun. Hasil kelayakan ekonomi, didapatkan perhitungan dengan modal tetap (FCI) sebesar Rp 110.591.816.367 dan modal investasi (TCI) sebesar Rp 127.180.588.822. Berdasarkan aspek ekonomi, pabrik ini memiliki nilai ROI 137,21%, DCFR 14,41%, DPBP 3,5 tahun, dan NPV sebesar Rp 599.113.148.620. Berdasarkan hasil kajian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pabrik phenethyl alcohol ini secara ekonomi layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut. Kata Kunci: Stirena oksida, Hidrogen, Phenethyl alcohol
