Abstract
Proses produksi asam propionat berbahan baku propionaldehid dan udara sebagai bahan bakunya. Pabrik ini berkapasitas 41.000 ton/tahun yang akan beroperasi secara continue. Pabrik ini didirikan dengan tujuan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dalam dan luar negeri seperti Malaysia, Singapura, dan Thailand. Dalam proses sintesis asam propionat, terdapat beberapa proses utama, antara lain persiapan bahan baku, reaksi, dan pemurnian produk asam propionat. Reaksi berlangsung di dalam reaktor gelembung pada suhu 40ᴼC dan tekanan 1 atm. Keluaran dari reaktor diumpankan ke menara distilasi 1 untuk memisahkan pengotor seperti air, propionaldehid, dan mangan propionat sebagai top produk dan bottom produk akan dialirkan menuju tangki penyimpanan. Top produk berupa propionaldehid akan di alirkan menuju menara distilasi 2 agar dapat di recycle kembali. Pabrik asam propionat ini direncanakan berdiri di daerah KIEC, Banten dengan luas tanah 57.509 m2. Adapun kebutuhan energi untuk pengoperasian pabrik ini meliputi kebutuhan listrik sebesar 37.68 kW dan air untuk utilitas sebesar 727.62 kg/jam. Hasil perhitungan ekonomi, didapatkan perhitungan dengan modal tetap sebesar $ 113,744,948.11, modal kerja sebesar $ 20,072,637.90. Dan biaya produksi sebesar $ 278,929,282.86. Selain itu analisis profitabilitas menunjukkan ROI sebesar 93 %, BEP 57 %, DCFR 51.22 %, SDP 19%, DPBP 1.97 tahun, dan NPV $ 830,905,551.34. Sehingga berdasarkan perhitungan ekonomi tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pabrik ini layak untuk didirikan.
