Abstract

Polietilen Tereftalat (PET) adalah plastik yang sering digunakan sebagai kemasan makanan dan minuman serta kosmetik di Indonesia. Pabrik ini akan di bangun pada tahun 2030 dengan kapasitas produksi 440.000 ton/tahun yang akan berlokasi di Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC), Kota Karawang, Jawa Barat. Lokasi ini dipilih karena kemudahan akses bahan baku serta mudahnya akomodasi dan transportasi. Polietilen Tereftalat akan diproduksi menggunakan metode Esterifikasi Langsung dengan bahan baku PTA (Purified Terepthalatic Acid) dan MEG (Mono Etilen Glikol). Proses sintesis akan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu Proses Esterifikasi, dimana PTA daan MEG diubah menjadi monomer BHET (Bis-Hydoxyethyl Terepthalate), kemudian proses Polimerisasi, dimana monomer akan diubah menjadi PET dengan bantuan katalis antimoni, serta tahap terakhir yaitu Ekstrusi yaitu pemotongan serat PET menjadi biji plastik PET yang siap di distribusikan. Pabrik ini dioperasikan secara kontinyu selama 330 hari/tahun dengan waktu operasi selama 24 jam/hari. Bahan baku yang dibutuhkan antara lain PTA sebanyak 43.509 kg/jam, MEG sebanyak 15.002 kg/jam, Katalis antimoni sebanyak 2.995 kg/jam dan dulling agent sebanyak 2.771 kg/jam. Dengan evaluasi ekonomi TCI sebesar $46.849.881, DCFR sebesar 45,11%, ROI sebesar 96%, BEP sebesar 59,68%, SDP sebesar 6,03%, DPBP selama 1,35 tahun.
