Abstract

ABSTRAK ID TKKS merupakan produk samping yang dihasilkan dalam proses pengolahan kelapa sawit. Limbah TKKS mengandung lignoselulosa yang terdiri dari selulosa, hemiselulosa dan lignin. Selulosa yang mengandung gugus hidroksilat atau gugus OH dalam struktur molekulnya. Gugus fungsi C-O dari selulosa yang dihasilkan oleh TKKS menunjukkan kemampuan yang baik dalam menyerap air. Limbah selulosa berpotensi untuk digunakan sebagai Soil Conditioner. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu perendaman TKKS+PAM terhadap karakteristik polimer superabsorben yang dihasilkan serta kemampuan dalam menyerap air dan laju penyerapan air. Pembuatan polimer superabsorben dilakukan dengan memvariasikan waktu perendaman TKKS+PAM 2 jam, 4 jam, 6 jam dengan temperature pengeringan 1000 C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan polimer superabsorben yang dihasilkan pada sampel dengan waktu perendaman 6 jam memiliki nilai persentase kapasitas sebesar 68%, dan laju penyerapan sebesar 1,2 (g/m) serta pada pH 8 memiliki nilai penyerapan sebesar 78%. Serta pengaruh waktu perendaman TKKS+PAM terhadap gugus fungsi FTIR SAP setelah ditambahkan PAM secara signifikan gugus fungsi hasil analisis FTIR dari penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil yaitu gugus O-H pada wavenumber 3280 cm-1, C-H pada wavenumber 1399 cm-1, C-O pada wavenumber 1190 cm-1 dan NH pada wavenumber 3642 cm-1. Kata kunci: TKKS, Soil conditioner, Poliakrilamida (PAM), Adsorbsi, dan FTIR. ABSTRACT EN TKKS is a by-product produced in the palm oil processing process. TKKS waste contains lignocellulose which consists of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. Cellulose contains hydroxylic groups or OH groups in its molecular structure. The C-O functional group of cellulose produced by TKKS shows a good ability to absorb water. Cellulose waste has the potential to be used as Soil Conditioner. This study aims to determine the effect of TKKS+PAM soaking time on the characteristics of the superabsorbent polymer produced as well as the ability to absorb water and the rate of water absorption. The manufacture of superabsorbent polymer was carried out by varying the soaking time of TKKS + PAM 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours with a drying temperature of 1000 C. The results showed that the superabsorbent polymer produced in the sample with a soaking time of 6 hours had a capacity percentage value of 68%, and an absorption rate of 1.2 (%/m) and at pH 8 had an absorption value of 78%. As well as the effect of TKKS + PAM soaking time on the FTIR functional groups of SAP after adding PAM significantly the functional groups of FTIR analysis results from this study show the results of the O-H group at wavenumber 3280 cm-1, C-H at wavenumber 1399 cm-1, C-O at wavenumber 1190 cm-1 and NH at wavenumber 3642 cm-1.
