Abstract

Industri manufaktur di Indonesia terus berkembang pesat seiring kebutuhan zaman dan kemajuan teknologi modern. Dalam proses produksi, manusia terus mencari cara untuk menciptakan produk yang lebih presisi dan efisien sebagai bagian dari evolusi teknologi yang mendukung kehidupan. Mesin Computer Numerical Control (CNC) menjadi simbol kemajuan ini, khususnya mesin frais (milling) yang unggul dalam akurasi dan produktivitas dibandingkan metode konvensional. Dalam pembuatan komponen, seperti pin piston, kekasaran permukaan menjadi indikator penting kualitas yang berakar dari komitmen manusia terhadap kesempurnaan produk. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengoptimalkan parameter pemesinan CNC untuk mengurangi kekasaran permukaan baja AISI 4140. Parameter yang diuji meliputi kecepatan spindle (4000–7000 rpm), gerak makan (50–125 mm/menit), dan kedalaman pemakanan (0,25–1 mm), menggunakan alat potong Endmill carbide. Metode Taguchi digunakan untuk menentukan kombinasi parameter terbaik, dan analisis ANOVA mengidentifikasi variabel paling signifikan. Hasilnya, gerak makan merupakan faktor dominan, disusul kedalaman pemakanan dan kecepatan spindle. Kombinasi optimal menghasilkan kekasaran 0,246 μm. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas produk pin piston melalui optimasi proses pemesinan CNC frais.
