Abstract

Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) belum memiliki instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL) untuk mengolah limbah cair Laboratorium Terpadu 1, sehingga berpotensi mencemari lingkungan dan membahayakan kesehatan. Saat ini, grey water dialirkan langsung ke saluran tanpa pengolahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik air limbah dan menentukan desain IPAL yang efektif. Karakteristik air limbah diukur pada sembilan parameter: COD, BOD, TSS, minyak & lemak, amonia, total coliform, pH, Fe, dan Pb. Tiga parameter yaitu TSS, amonia, dan total coliform didapatkan melebihi baku mutu. TSS menyebabkan kekeruhan dan sedimentasi, amonia bersifat toksik, sedangkan total coliform menunjukkan pencemaran biologis yang dapat memicu penyakit. Dua alternatif desain IPAL dianalisis dengan metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) berdasarkan efisiensi penyisihan, biaya, dan lahan. Alternatif 1 menggunakan equalization tank, aerobic biofilter, dan desinfeksi dengan efisiensi TSS 86%, amonia 97%, dan total coliform 99%, luas lahan 4,35 m², biaya kontruksi Rp28.661.957. Alternatif 2 menggunakan equalization tank, moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), dan desinfeksi dengan kinerja teknis baik, namun kebutuhan lahan dan biayanya lebih mahal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan alternatif 1 sebagai pilihan paling optimal.
