Abstract

Studi ini membahas tantangan dalam mengoptimalkan turbin angin sumbu vertikal (VAWT), khususnya turbin helical savonius tipe U, untuk wilayah dengan kecepatan angin rendah seperti Kota Balikpapan. Studi ini mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan material komposit berbasis serat daun nanas yang dipadukan dengan matriks resin polyester pada variasi fraksi volume 0.5, 0.6, dan 0.7 terhadap respon mekanis dan kinerja struktural turbin. Dalam penelitian ini kecepatan angin dan material komposit serat daun nanas sebagai variabel kontrol serta variasi fraksi volume sebagai variabel bebas. Metode yang digunakan adalah Finite Element Method (FEM), dengan pendekatan simulasi statik untuk menganalisis sebaran tegangan Von Mises, deformasi total, serta ketahanan terhadap fatigue. Bilah turbin komposit dengan fraksi volume serat yang lebih tinggi umumnya menunjukkan kekuatan mekanik yang lebih besar dan distribusi beban yang lebih baik. Fraksi volume 0.7 tampaknya lebih optimal dalam hal kesimbangan, kekakuan, kekuatan, dan penanganan tegangan. Penggunaan serat daun nanas menunjukkan potensi dalam aplikasi material ringan dan berkelanjutan untuk turbin angin kecil.
