Abstract

Indonesia memiliki cadangan pasir silika yang melimpah dan tersebar di berbagai wilayah. Pasir silika di Indonesia mengandung minimal 90% SiO2 dan menjadi bahan baku dengan potensi hilirisasi yang tinggi. Salah satu produk yang dapat dihasilkan dari pasir silika adalah sodium metasilikat pentahidrat. Produk ini digunakan oleh industri deterjen yang berfungsi sebagai penguat (builder) untuk meningkatkan efisiensi surfaktan. Saat ini, Indonesia masih bergantung pada impor sodium metasilikat pentahidrat dari negara lain dengan jumlah yang meningkat setiap tahun. Kondisi ini menunjukkan perlunya pengembangan industri sodium metasilikat pentahidrat untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negeri. Produksi sodium metasilikat pentahidrat dapat dilakukan dengan metode Brunner-Mond menggunakan bahan baku pasir silika dan sodium hidroksida. Reaksi terjadi pada suhu 210℃ dan tekanan 15,3 atm. Pabrik sodium metasilikat direncanakan berdiri pada tahun 2035 di Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC), Banten dengan kapasitas 12.000 ton/tahun. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi, laju pengembalian modal (ROI) pabrik ini sebesar 81% pada tingkat suku bunga bank sebesar 7,54%. Sedangkan untuk waktu pengembalian modal (DPBP) adalah 1,996 tahun dan titik impas (BEP) sebesar 64%. Umur pabrik selama 16 tahun dan masa konstruksi adalah 3 tahun. Untuk memproduksi sodium metasilikat pentahidrat sebanyak 12.000 ton/tahun, diperlukan biaya total produksi (TPC) sebesar Rp743.604.776.342,91 dengan biaya investasi total (TCI) sebesar Rp169.170.317.975,53.
