Abstract

Pesatnya pertumbuhan industri juga dapat membawa tantangan serius terkait dengan dampak lingkungan, seperti peningkatan limbah Cr⁶+yang tergolong sebagai limbah B3 (Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun), dapat berpotensi merusak ekosistem dan kesehatan makhluk hidup. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengolahan limbah Cr⁶+ yang cukup sederhana, dengan melakukan pembuatan adsorben berbahan dasar kitosan berupa membran sebagai media adsorpsi Cr6+ dari kegiatan industri sebelum dibuang ke lingkungan perairan serta mendesorpsi Cr6+ untuk dapat dimanfaatkan kembali. Pada penelitian ini proses adsorpsi menggunakan variasi konsentrasi kitosan : PVA sebesar 25%:75%, 50%:50%, dan 75%:25% dengan dan tanpa penambahan porogen (PEG 2,5%) serta variasi waktu kontak 50 menit, 150 menit, dan 250 menit. Dilakukan pengujian SEM diketahui morfologi membran terdapat pori - pori yang sangat penting dalam proses terjadinya adsorpsi. Pada karakterisasi FTIR didapatkan vibrasi tekuk N-H dari gugus amida II, vibrasi tekuk CH₂, vibrasi ulur C-O dan gugus imina (C=N). Pengujian Spectrophotometry UV -Vis untuk mengetahui daya adsorpsi optimum dari membran tanpa porogen kitosan 50%:PVA 50% dengan waktu kontak 250 menit didapatkan sebesar 98,30% serta pada membran dengan porogen (PEG 2,5%) kitosan 75%: PVA 25% dengan waktu kontak 150 menit didapatkan sebesar 99,47%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, kemampuan Na2EDTA 0,10 M efektif melepas kromium heksavalen dari membran kitosan 50% : PVA 50% (80%) dan membran dengan PEG 2,5% (89%).
