Abstract

Elektroplating merupakan bahan pelapis yang sering digunakan, yang mengandung logam berat diantaranya emas, aluminium, kobalt, magnesium, platinum, palladium, rhodium, tembaga, nikel, seng, dan kromium. Berdasarkan lonjakan permintaan produk dari sektor industri, proses elektroplating menghasilkan limbah yang sering kali mengandung logam berat, salah satunya adalah Cr6+sebesar 2695 mg/L. Logam Cr6+ dapat digunakan kembali dengan melakukan proses presipitasi kimia secara bertahap. Pada penelitian ini akan melakukan proses pemurnian logam Cr6+ pada limbah elektroplating menggunakan reagen berupa Magnesium Oksida sebanyak 2 gr, Asam Oksalat 0,25 M, dan Natrium Hidroksida 0,5 M yang akan dimanfaatkan sebagai elektrolit redox flow batteries. Pada metode pengadukan menggunakan ultrasonikasi menunjukkan efisiensi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan metode mechanical stirring dalam proses pemurnian kromium. Dengan nilai konsentrasi Cr6+ yang didapatkan pada metode pengadukan ultrasonikasi sebesar 1542 mg/L dan mechanical stirring sebesar 711,5 mg/L. pengujian voltammetry menunjukkan bahwa Cr6+ yang dihasilkan melalui metode ultrasonikasi memiliki tegangan sebesar 1,453 volt. Sebaliknya, Cr6+ yang dihasilkan melalui metode mechanical stirring hanya menghasilkan tegangan sebesar 0,573 volt. Perbedaan ini menunjukkan bahwa Cr6+ yang dihasilkan dengan ultrasonikasi memiliki potensi elektrolit yang lebih tinggi, yang dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan efisiensi dan kinerja Redox Flow Batteries.
