Abstract

Dalam industri otomotif, proses penyambungan material menjadi faktor krusial dalam meningkatkan efisiensi produksi dan kualitas struktur kendaraan. Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) umum digunakan untuk menyambung panel kendaraan, tetapi memiliki keterbatasan seperti keterbatasan posisi dan lokasi pengelasan serta inefesiensi biaya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi penggunaan metode spot welding berbasis Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) sebagai alternatif RSW pada material baja SS400. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan spot welding menggunakan FCAW pada plat baja SS400 dengan variasi arus 80A, 100A, dan 120A. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi uji tarik geser untuk mengetahui kekuatan sambungan las dan uji metalografi untuk menganalisis struktur mikro yang terbentuk. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa peningkatan arus spotweld berpengaruh terhadap sifat mekanik dan mikrostruktur, semakin tinggi arus yang digunakan maka nilai kekuatan geser yang didapat semakin tinggi serta arus yang lebih tinggi mendorong transformasi mikrostruktur yang lebih kompleks khususnya di weld metal.
