Abstract

Kalium Hidroksida (KOH) merupakan senyawa anorganik berupa kristal berwarna putih, dengan molekul unsur kalium K+ yang mengikat gugus hidroksil OH-. KOH memiliki nama lain yaitu caustic potash, potassia, potassium hydroxide. KOH merupakan senyawa basa kuat dan mudah larut dalam air, menghasilkan larutan yang bersifat korosif dengan pH tinggi. KOH banyak diaplikasikan pada industri, seperti industri pupuk, industri farmasi, industri bahan kimia, industri sabun dan deterjen, industri biodiesel, maupun industri baterai. Pendirian pabrik ini didasarkan pada ketersediaan bahan baku di dalam negeri, dimana pada produksi KOH ini memerlukan bahan baku berupa kalium klorida (KCl) melalui metode elektrolisis dengan kapasitas produksi 24.000 ton/tahun. Konversi KCl menjadi KOH melalui proses elektrolisis mencapai 97%. Adapun produk KOH yang direncanakan ini akan ditargetkan pada industri sabun dan deterjen, dimana KOH digunakan sebagai prekursor dalam pembuatan sabun dan deterjen, sehingga menghasilkan sabun lunak (cair), dengan KOH yang digunakan ialah padatan KOH kemurnian 95%. Berdasarkan analisa ekonomi, perolehan estimasi Total Capital Investment (TCI) sebesar $ 39.444.701,81, dengan DCFR sebesar 35,54%, Net Present Value sebesar $ 140.815.168, DPBP selama 1,948 tahun, ROI sebesar 56,85%, BEP sebesar 30%, dan SDP sebesar 21%, pabrik ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.
