Abstract
Aluminum 6061 is an aluminum alloy that is often applied in various fields such as automotive, construction, industry, and manufacturing. Heat treatment is a technique used to change the physical properties of metal or steel through a series of processes, such as hardening, tempering, normalizing, quenching, annealing, and carburizing. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in heat treatment temperature on hardness tests on aluminum series 6061, which aims to increase the hardness value of the hardness test, where this hardness test uses the Brinell method. This study was carried out experimentally using temperature variations of 400 ° C, 450 ° C, 500 ° C, 550 ° C and 600 ° C. Each temperature variation involves 3 specimens, so that a total of 15 specimens were tested. Based on the test results, the highest hardness value was achieved at a temperature of 600 °C, with a hardness value of 63 HBW, while the lowest hardness value was found at a temperature of 500 °C, with a value of 34.6 HBW.
