Abstract

Peningkatan kebutuhan asam sulfat di Indonesia mendorong pengembangan pabrik baru untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada impor serta memanfaatkan sumber daya sulfur domestik. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk merancang pabrik asam sulfat dengan kapasitas 75.000 ton/tahun menggunakan proses kontak. Lokasi pabrik dipilih di Kawasan Industri Kota Bukit Indah, Purwakarta, Jawa Barat, berdasarkan analisis ketersediaan bahan baku, kedekatan dengan pasar, dan dukungan infrastruktur. Proses produksi melibatkan tahapan pelelehan sulfur, oksidasi sulfur menjadi sulfur dioksida, pembentukan sulfur trioksida dengan katalis vanadium pentoksida, serta penyerapan sulfur trioksida menggunakan asam sulfat pekat untuk menghasilkan produk akhir. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa proses kontak memiliki efisiensi tinggi dengan mencapai 99,65%. Pemilihan katalis dan. Dengan mempertimbangkan data pasar, kapasitas produksi, dan analisis lokasi, pabrik ini dinilai layak secara teknis dan ekonomis untuk memenuhi kebutuhan industri kimia di Indonesia, sekaligus mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan melalui pengelolaan limbah yang optimal. Secara Ekonomi pabrik ini layak ditinjau lebih lanjut dengan nilai ROI 76%, BEP 63%, dan nilai DPBP selama 1,2 tahun.
