Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji perbandingan kekuatan struktur antara gading kapal kayu gading terpisah dan gading tersambung, dengan lokasi studi di Penajam Paser Utara, Kalimantan Timur. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan metode elemen hingga, Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perbedaan dalam bentuk konstruksi gading kapal kayu di wilayah tersebut. Tujuan utama dari studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar perbedaan kekuatan antara kedua jenis struktur gading. Berdasarkan simulasi pembebanan secara transversal yang meliputi geladak, sisi, dan alas kapal hasil menunjukkan bahwa gading tersambung memiliki nilai tegangan dan deformasi yang lebih baik dibandingkan gading terpisah. Di mana nilai deformasi maksimal yang didapat sebesar 4.42 mm dan tegangan maksimal sebesar 13.10 N/m2 sedangkan pada gading terpisah nilai deformasi yang didapat sebesar 6.80 mm dan tegangan maksimal sebesar 20.76 N/m2 di mana nilai tegangan yang di izinkan menurut rules BKI 2023 sebesar 12.75 N/m2, Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan duketahui bahwa respon struktur gading terpisah lebih besar dibandingkan dengan respon struktur gading tersambung. Dengan temuan ini, penelitian merekomendasikan penggunaan gading tersambung pada kapal kayu di Penajam Paser Utara demi menunjang kelaiklautan kapal.
