Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh karbon hasil pirolisis tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) terhadap proses reduksi bijih besi asal Kalimantan. Karbon yang diperoleh dari proses pirolisis TKKS berpotensi digunakan sebagai reduktan alternatif dalam industri pengolahan besi. Pengujian dilakukan melalui variasi temperatur dan konsentrasi karbon untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas reduksi. Metode yang digunakan meliputi karakterisasi komposisi kimia karbon pirolisis serta uji reduksi terhadap bijih besi menggunakan karbon tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karbon pirolisis TKKS mampu meningkatkan laju reduksi bijih besi secara signifikan. Efektivitas reduksi diketahui meningkat seiring dengan kenaikan suhu dan konsentrasi karbon. Selain itu, pemanfaatan karbon biomassa ini berpotensi menurunkan emisi gas rumah kaca dibandingkan dengan reduktan berbasis fosil. Temuan ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan teknologi pengolahan bijih besi yang lebih ramah lingkungan, khususnya di wilayah Kalimantan.
