Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan karbon cangkang kelapa sawit sebagai reduktor serta aditif Na₂SO₄ dan dolomit terhadap kadar, recovery, dan karakteristik logam nikel hasil reduksi bijih laterit secara pirometalurgi. Reduksi dilakukan menggunakan variasi reduktor biomassa sebesar 25%, 30%, dan 35% berat, dan kombinasi aditif Na₂SO₄ 15%, dolomit 10%, serta perbandingan 35% karbon menggunakan dan tidak menggunakan aditif. Proses reduksi menggunakan tungku pemanas pada suhu 1200°C selama 60 menit, diikuti separasi magnetik dengan kuat medan magnet 500 Gauss, serta karakterisasi melalui pengujian XRF, XRD dan SEM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan reduksi optimal pada penambahan reduktor cangkang kelapa sawit pada komposisi 30% karbon berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar dan recovery logam. menghasilkan kadar Ni 6,07%, recovery Ni 66,88%, dan recovery Fe 62,94%, XRD mengonfirmasi terbentuknya fasa feronikel, sementara SEM menunjukkan morfologi partikel feronikel yang padat dan menyatu, menandakan pertumbuhan butir logam yang baik. Kombinasi aditif Na₂SO₄ 15% dan dolomit 10%, mampu meningkatkan recovery nikel dari 13,07% menjadi 68,67% dan recovery besi dari 9,22% menjadi 63,47%, serta menaikkan kadar nikel dari 3,4% menjadi 5,49%. Hasil XRD dan SEM mendukung keberhasilan peningkatan kadar dan efisiensi proses
