Abstract

The increasing need for efficient and reliable motor drive systems encourages the use of Silicon Carbide (SiC)-based power semiconductor technology. Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) require inverters with high switching performance and low power losses to operate optimally. However, the design of single-phase SiC-MOSFET-based power modules and gate drivers still faces problems such as surge voltage, switching losses, and circuit reliability. This study aims to design and implement single-phase SiC-MOSFET-based power modules and gate drivers as PMSM motor drivers. The research method is carried out through literature studies, circuit design and simulation using SPICE, PCB layout and prototype creation, and circuit testing using the Double Pulse Test (DPT) method. The parameters analyzed include gate-source voltage, drain-source voltage, drain current, and switching characteristics. The results of the study indicate that the designed power modules and gate drivers can operate according to the specified specifications. The switching characteristics of SiC-MOSFET show a fast response with lower switching losses. In addition, the test results show a match between simulation and hardware testing, so that the system is declared suitable for application as a single-phase PMSM motor driver.
