Abstract

Indonesia memiliki cadangan bauksit melimpah. Sejak Juni 2023, pemerintah menghentikan ekspor bauksit untuk mendorong hilirisasi. Salah satu pemanfaatannya adalah pembangunan pabrik Aluminium Hidroksida (Al(OH)₃) berkapasitas 204.500 ton/tahun di Karawang International Industrial City, yang digunakan sebagai filler dan fire retardant, dengan target pasar domestik, Asia Pasifik, dan Asia Selatan. Proses yang digunakan adalah proses Pedersen yang memiliki keunggulan dapat memanfaatkan low grade untuk menggantikan cadangan bauksit high grade yang menipis di dalam negeri, serta produk sampingnya berupa pig iron dan grey mud yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai produk samping. Dalam prosesnya, bauksit, CaO, dan kokas dilebur di electric arc furnace menghasilkan CaAl₂O₄ dan pig iron. Selanjutnya, CaAl₂O₄ direaksikan dengan Na₂CO₃ pada reaktor leaching (Konversi 98%) untuk menghasilkan NaAlO₂. Filtratnya dipisahkan melalui filtrasi, menghasilkan residu berupa grey mud. NaAlO₂ kemudian direaksikan dengan CO₂ pada reaktor precipitation (Konversi 95%) membentuk Al(OH)₃, yang selanjutnya dikeringkan menggunakan rotary dryer. Evaluasi ekonomi menunjukan nilai Total Capital Investment (TCI) sebesar $147,234,206.42, Return on Investment (ROI) sebesar 93%, Net Present Value (NPV) sebesar $71,696,171,060.54 Discounted Cash Flow rate of Return (DCFR) sebesar 53%, dan Discounted Payback Period (DPBP) selama 2 tahun 11 bulan, berdasarkan hasil analisa tersebut pabrik dinilai layak untuk di evaluasi.
