Abstract

Limbah cair industri tahu memiliki kandungan bahan organik dan padatan tersuspensi yang tinggi serta kondisi pH yang asam sehingga berpotensi mencemari lingkungan apabila dibuang tanpa pengolahan terlebih dahulu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas kombinasi tanaman melati air (Echinodorus palaefolius) dan kangkung air (Ipomoea aquatica) dalam menurunkan kadar Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), serta meningkatkan pH limbah cair tahu menggunakan sistem hidroponik rakit apung dengan perlakuan aerasi dan tanpa aerasi. Penelitian dilakukan pada menggunakan tiga variasi kombinasi massa tanaman, yaitu 240 gram melati air + 60 gram kangkung air, 150 gram melati air + 150 gram kangkung air, dan 60 gram melati air + 240 gram kangkung air dengan total massa 300 gram. Pengamatan COD dan TSS dilakukan pada hari ke-0, 5, dan 10, sedangkan parameter pH diamati setiap hari selama penelitian berlangsung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi tanaman dengan perlakuan aerasi memberikan hasil penyisihan yang lebih baik dibandingkan tanpa aerasi. Efisiensi penyisihan COD tertinggi mencapai 97,33% dengan massa 240 gram melati air + 60 gram kangkung air, sedangkan penyisihan TSS berkisar antara 98,35–99,63%. Selain itu, nilai pH mengalami peningkatan dari kondisi awal yang bersifat asam menuju kisaran netral hingga basa ringan, yaitu 7,59–8,45. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa variasi massa tanaman tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap parameter COD, TSS, dan pH, sedangkan perlakuan aerasi memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap nilai COD dan pH.
