Abstract

Biobriket adalah salah satu energi terbarukan yang dikembangkan melalui pemanfaatan batubara sub-bituminus dan biomassa berupa tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) serta sekam padi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi batubara sub-bituminus, biomassa TKKS, dan sekam padi terhadap karakteristik biobriket yang dihasilkan. Variasi komposisi 100:0, 50:50, dan 30:70 (batubara:biomassa) dengan ukuran partikel 60 mesh dan perekat tepung tapioka 10%. Biomassa terlebih dahulu dikarbonisasi di suhu 550°C selama 2 jam setelah itu dicampurkan dan dicetak menjadi biobriket. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi proksimat nilai kalor, laju pembakaran menggunakan Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), serta emisi gas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh variasi biobriket memenuhi standar SNI 4931:2010 untuk kadar air, yaitu sebesar 2,5490% (100:0), 8,1975% (50:50), dan 10,1259% (30:70). Kadar abu terendah diperoleh pada komposisi 100:0 sebesar 2,6151%, sedangkan komposisi 30:70 menghasilkan kadar abu tertinggi sebesar 21,5348% sehingga tidak memenuhi standar SNI SNI 4931:2010. Nilai kalor tertinggi diperoleh pada komposisi 100:0 sebesar 6289,29 kal/g, komposisi 50:50 sebesar 4573,18 kal/g dan 30:70 sebesar 4354,31 kal/g. Hasil TGA menunjukkan komposisi 30:70 memiliki stabilitas termal yang lebih baik dengan residu massa tertinggi pada suhu 600°C. Pengujian emisi gas menunjukkan bahwa emisi CO berturut-turut sebesar 3750 ppm, 3936 ppm, dan 3868 ppm, sedangkan emisi SO2 sebesar 131 ppm, 104 ppm, dan 103 ppm untuk masing-masing komposisi 100:0, 50:50, dan 30:70. Penambahan biomassa TKKS dan sekam padi mampu menurunkan emisi SO2, komposisi 50:50 merupakan variasi yang paling optimal karena memenuhi standar mutu biobriket berdasarkan SNI 4931:2010 serta menghasilkan emisi SO2 yaitu 57 ppm.
