Abstract

Peningkatan aktivitas industri nikel dan pembangkit listrik tenaga uap menghasilkan limbah berupa slag nikel dan fly ash yang berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai material konstruksi ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan fly ash sebagai substitusi sebagian semen dan variasi slag nikel sebagai pengganti sebagian agregat halus terhadap kuat tekan dan absorpsi air paving block, serta menentukan komposisi optimum yang memenuhi mutu B berdasarkan SNI 03-0691-1996. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental di laboratorium dengan perbandingan campuran semen dan agregat halus sebesar 1:4. Pada Fly ash digunakan sebesar 10% dari berat semen, sedangkan slag nikel divariasikan sebesar 0%, 50%, 75%, 90%, dan 100% terhadap agregat halus. Benda uji berukuran 21 cm × 11,5 cm × 7,5 cm, dilakukan metode open-air curing, kemudian diuji kuat tekan dan absorpsi air pada umur 28 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi optimum diperoleh pada variasi 10% fly ash dan 75% slag nikel dengan kuat tekan rata-rata 34,03 MPa dan absorpsi air 4,77%, sehingga memenuhi mutu B. Peningkatan kinerja ini disebabkan oleh reaksi pozzolan fly ash yang memperpadat pasta semen dan slag nikel pada kadar optimum yang memperbaiki susunan agregat.
