Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi ukuran diameter cetakan logam terhadap karakteristik mekanik dan struktur mikro hasil pengecoran Aluminium 6061. Aluminium 6061 merupakan paduan yang banyak diaplikasikan pada komponen otomotif dan konstruksi, namun sifat mekaniknya sangat dipengaruhi oleh laju pendinginan selama proses solidifikasi. Dalam penelitian ini, spesimen diproduksi menggunakan metode pengecoran langsung (die casting) dengan variasi diameter cetakan logam sebesar 28 mm, 31 mm, 34 mm, 37 mm, dan 40 mm. Parameter pengujian meliputi uji kekuatan tekan, uji kekerasan Brinell (HB), dan pengamatan struktur mikro menggunakan perangkat lunak ImageJ untuk mengukur rata-rata ukuran butir (grain size). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dimensi cetakan memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap sifat mekanik dan morfologi butir. Nilai kekuatan tekan tertinggi diperoleh pada spesimen dengan diameter cetakan terkecil (28 mm) yaitu sebesar 305,23 MPa, sedangkan nilai terendah pada diameter 40 mm sebesar 247,74 MPa. Selaras dengan kekuatan tekan, nilai kekerasan tertinggi juga dicapai pada diameter 28 mm dengan nilai 42,9 HB dan terendah pada diameter 40 mm sebesar 37,4 HB. Analisis struktur mikro mengonfirmasi bahwa diameter cetakan yang lebih kecil menghasilkan laju pendinginan yang lebih cepat, sehingga memicu pembentukan butir yang lebih halus dan rapat. Sebaliknya, peningkatan diameter cetakan mengakibatkan laju pendinginan melambat yang menyebabkan pertumbuhan butir menjadi lebih kasar dan menurunkan resistensi material terhadap deformasi plastis.
