Abstract

Indonesia khususnya Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) memiliki cadangan bijih mangan sebesar 18.828.327 ton dengan kadar 78.2% MnO2 yang didominasi oleh mineral pirolusit. Potensi ini sangat strategis untuk pengembangan industri hilirisasi mangan menjadi electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD), sebagai material katoda pada baterai lithium mangan. Produksi EMD dapat dilakukan melalui metode Pyro–Hydrometallurgy dengan bahan baku bijih pirolusit (MnO2), reduktor kokas (coke), dan asam sulfat (H2SO4). Proses pyrometalurgi dilakukan di dalam rotary kiln untuk mereduksi MnO2 dengan menggunakan coke pada suhu 1000°C dan tekanan 1 atm. Selanjutnya, proses hydrometalurgi dilakukan di dalam stirred tank reactor dengan H2SO4 pada suhu operasi 90°C dan tekanan 1 atm untuk menghasilkan larutan MnSO4. Larutan yang telah dimurnikan kemudian diproses melalui electrowinning menggunakan katoda stainless steel dan anoda Pb-Ag. Proses ini mencapai konversi mangan sebesar 98% dengan kemurnian EMD sebesar 99%. Pabrik EMD direncanakan mulai beroperasi pada tahun 2031 dan berlokasi di Kawasan Industri Bolok (KIB), Nusa Tenggara Timur, dengan kapasitas produksi sebesar 95.000 ton/tahun. Analisis ekonomi pabrik EMD menunjukkan nilai Return on Investment (ROI) sebesar 94% pada tingkat suku bunga 1,27%. Waktu pengembalian modal (DPBP) diperoleh selama 16 tahun dengan nilai Break Even Point (BEP) sebesar 52%. Pabrik ini memiliki umur ekonomis 16 tahun dengan masa konstruksi 3 tahun.
