Abstract

Barium karbonat (BaCO₃) merupakan bahan kimia yang banyak digunakan dalam industri keramik, kaca, dan cat, sementara kebutuhan dalam negeri masih bergantung pada impor. Pra-rancangan pabrik ini bertujuan memproduksi barium karbonat dari barium sulfida (BaS) dan karbon dioksida (CO₂) melalui proses karbonasi dengan kapasitas 15.000 ton/tahun. Berdasarkan analisis pasar dan ketersediaan bahan baku, lokasi pabrik dipilih di Kawasan Industri Kujang Cikampek, Jawa Barat. Proses produksi menggunakan bubble reactor pada suhu 30°C dan tekanan 1 atm dengan konversi reaksi 98% dan kemurnian produk sekitar 99,4%, sedangkan gas H₂S yang dihasilkan sebagai produk samping diolah menjadi sulfur menggunakan absorber Fe-EDTA untuk meningkatkan nilai dan memenuhi aspek lingkungan. Perancangan meliputi neraca massa dan energi, spesifikasi peralatan, utilitas, tata letak pabrik, serta aspek keselamatan, kesehatan kerja, dan lingkungan. Hasil evaluasi ekonomi menunjukkan (TCI) sebesar US$19.967.064,75, (ROI) 79%, Break Even Point (BEP) 68%, (SDP) 10%, (NPV) sebesar US$191.385.051,595, (DCFR) 46,60%, dan (DPBP) 1,389 tahun. Berdasarkan hasil analisis teknis, lingkungan, dan ekonomi, pabrik barium karbonat dari barium sulfida dan karbon dioksida melalui proses karbonasi layak untuk dikembangkan.
