Abstract

Sodium karbonat (Na₂CO₃) atau soda ash merupakan bahan kimia anorganik yang banyak digunakan dalam industri kaca, deterjen, pulp dan kertas, serta tekstil. Kebutuhan nasional yang terus meningkat masih dipenuhi melalui impor, sehingga dirancang pabrik sodium karbonat berkapasitas 300.000 ton/tahun menggunakan Modified Solvay Process yang berlokasi di Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC), Jawa Barat. Bahan baku yang digunakan meliputi natrium klorida (NaCl), amonia (NH₃), dan karbon dioksida (CO₂). Proses produksi meliputi persiapan bahan baku, karbonasi larutan brine amonia dalam Bubble Column Reactor, pemisahan kristal natrium bikarbonat (NaHCO₃), kalsinasi, serta penanganan produk. Reaksi karbonasi berlangsung pada suhu 30°C dan tekanan 1 bar, sedangkan kalsinasi dilakukan pada suhu sekitar 175°C. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa sodium karbonat dengan kemurnian 99,5%, serta amonium klorida (NH₄Cl) sebagai produk samping. Pabrik direncanakan beroperasi secara kontinyu selama 24 jam per hari dan 330 hari per tahun, dengan masa konstruksi 2 tahun. Hasil analisis ekonomi menunjukkan nilai TCI sebesar US$112.677.993,11, TDC sebesar US$84.014.293,11, ROI sebesar 84%, DCFRR sebesar 33,4%, BEP sebesar 59%, SDP sebesar 15%, DBPP selama 1,1 tahun, dan NPV sebesar US$2.133.873.046,31. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi teknis dan ekonomi, pabrik sodium karbonat ini dinilai layak untuk direalisasikan. Kata Kunci : Sodium karbonat, Modified Solvay Process, Bubble Column Reactor
