Abstract
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) merupakan senyawa eter siklik yang banyak digunakan sebagai pelarut dalam industri kimia, farmasi, dan polimer, terutama sebagai bahan baku polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG). Pra-rancangan pabrik ini bertujuan merancang produksi THF dari 1,4-butanediol melalui reaksi dehidrasi menggunakan katalis zeolit ZSM-5. Pabrik dirancang berkapasitas 25.000 ton/tahun dengan waktu operasi 330 hari/tahun dan 24 jam/hari. Proses produksi meliputi persiapan bahan baku, reaksi dehidrasi dalam Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) pada suhu 150°C dan tekanan 20 atm dengan konversi 93,8%, serta tahap pemisahan dan pemurnian menggunakan centrifuge, rotary dryer, dan kolom distilasi sehingga diperoleh produk THF dengan kemurnian 99%. Hasil analisis ekonomi menunjukkan Total Capital Investment (TCI) sebesar US$43.705.672,01, Total Production Cost (TPC) sebesar US$32.822.486/tahun, Net Present Value (NPV) sebesar US$322.670.630, Discounted Cash Flow Rate of Return (DCFRR) sebesar 65,69%, Return on Investment (ROI) sebesar 60%, Discounted Payback Period (DPBP) selama 1,059 tahun, Break Even Point (BEP) sebesar 55%, dan Shutdown Point (SDP) sebesar 37%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, pra-rancangan pabrik THF dengan kemurnian produk 99% dinyatakan layak untuk direalisasikan karena memenuhi aspek teknis dan ekonomi.
