Abstract

Kapal Tongkang di gunakan sebagai alat pengangkut utama barang-barang berat seperti nikel, kayu, batu bara dan sebagainya. Baru-baru ini terjadi kecelakaan kapal tongkang terbelah pada saat kapal sedang di lakukan transfer muatan orinikel ke kapal MV. KSL Huayang untuk di angkut keluar Sulawesi Utara, kecelakaan menyebabkan orinikel dan 2 excavator tumpah ke laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tegangan maksimum dan mengetahui kekuatan batas kapal. Metode ini menggunakan Finite Element Method (FEM). Dalam penelitian ini diperoleh tegangan maksimum pada loadcase 1 kondisi ketebalan pelat 100% hogging sebesar 419.304 N/mm2 dan sagging sebesar 427.469 N/mm2 . Pada loadcase 1 kondisi ketebalan pelat 80% hogging 531.472 N/mm2 dan sagging sebesar 541.886 N/mm2 . Pada loadcase 1 kondisi ketebalan pelat 75% hogging 573.75 N/mm2 dan sagging sebesar 593.837 N/mm2. Pada loadcase 2 kondisi ketebalan pelat 100% hogging 390.975 N/mm2 dan sagging sebesar 405.484 N/mm2. Pada loadcase 2 kondisi ketebalan pelat 80% hogging 523.676 N/mm2 dan sagging sebesar 532.163 N/mm2. Pada loadcase 2 kondisi ketebalan pelat 75% hogging 559.806 N/mm2 dan sagging sebesar 573.714 N/mm2. Momen ultimate terbesar yaitu 9.02x1011 Nmm pada loadcase 1 kondisi sagging dan hogging. Momen ultimate terkecil yaitu 6.64x1011 Nmm pada loadcase 2 kondisi sagging dan hogging.
