Abstract

Technological advancements have had a positive impact on the gaming industry, enhancing the design of interactive and engaging games. Video games serve as a form of entertainment, providing an escape from stress and helping refresh the mind. The interactivity of games has become a crucial factor in game design, especially for arcade games. Initially operated with coins, arcade games have evolved through platforms such as consoles and computers. User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) play a significant role in game design as current arcade games often lack satisfactory user experiences and designs. User-centered design (UCD) proves to be a beneficial approach in this research, placing users as the primary focus in the product or experience design process. The UCD method involves stages such as identifying needs, determining usability contexts, specifying requirements, creating design solutions, and evaluating designs. This research aims to examine player satisfaction in games and gain insights into the UI and UX designs of games using the UCD method. The results of the conducted research can provide enjoyable gaming experiences for players through usability testing that focuses on satisfaction, learnability, efficiency, and memorability factors. The usability testing results for the game show good usability, with an average score of 4.26 on a scale from 1 (very negative) to 5 (very positive). The findings of this research also offer a solid understanding of UI and UX design in the game "Another Day in the Island" using the UCD method, which can benefit developers in the future.
