Abstract

Metilen klorida (CH₂Cl₂) merupakan bahan kimia penting yang banyak digunakan sebagai pelarut dalam industri cat dan coating, resin, perekat, serta berbagai proses manufaktur. Pra-rancangan pabrik metilen klorida akan dibangun di Kawasan Industri Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC), Banten dengan kapasitas 25.000 ton/tahun. Bahan baku berupa metil klorida akan disuplai oleh PT Joetsu City-Jepang dan bahan baku klorin akan disuplai oleh PT Chandra Asri. Sintesis metilen klorida melalui proses thermal chlorination. Proses produksi terdiri dari persiapan bahan baku dengan mencampurkan fresh feed metil klorida dan klorin di masing–masing mixing point sebelum dialirkan ke reaktor. Sintesis berlangsung secara adiabatik di suhu 400 °C dan tekanan 3 atm di dalam reaktor klorinasi (Furnace reactor tipe plug flow reactor). Produk yang dihasilkan berupa metilen klorida dan asam klorida yang akan dimurnikan menggunakan menara distilasi untuk produk metilen klorida dan kolom absorber untuk asam klorida. Pabrik direncanakan beroperasi selama 24 jam dalam 330 hari. Dari hasil analisis ekonomi pabrik metilen klorida diperoleh modal tetap sebesar Rp 174.235.449.018. Hasil analisis profitabilitas menunjukkan ROI sebesar 85,96%, SDP 33,8%, BEP 66%, NPV Rp 3.056.672.927.042 dan DPBP 1,22 tahun. Berdasarkan aspek-aspek tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pra rancangan pabrik metilen klorida ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.
