Abstract

Pabrik calcium sulfite didirikan pertama kali di Indonesia dari hasil reaksi larutan kapur tohor (Ca(OH)2) dengan sulfur dioksida (SO2) dengan kapasitas produksi sebesar 252.000 ton/tahun dan beroperasi selama 330 hari/24 jam dalam setahun secara kontinyu. Tahap persiapan material belerang dan batu kapur dilakukan untuk memperoleh SO2 dan Ca(OH)2 sebagai bahan baku utama. Pembuatan calcium sulfite dilakukan dengan menggunakan proses desulfurisasi gas SO2. Produk utama dari pabrik ini yaitu calcium sulfite yang masih mengandung H2O sebesar 1%. Pabrik calcium sulfite direncanakan berlokasi di Kawasan Industri Krajan II, Kecamatan Wongsorejo, Kabupaten Banyuwangi, Provinsi Jawa Timur. Tenaga kerja yang dibutuhkan untuk mengelola pabrik calcium sulfite ini sebanyak 250 orang. Pabrik ini memiliki luas lahan sebesar 301.200 m2. Berdasarkan hasil analisis kelayakan ekonomi pabrik calcium sulfite larutan kapur tohor (Ca(OH)2) dengan gas belerang dioksida (SO2) memiliki nilai TCI sebesar $68.391.527,75, TPC sebesar $1.364.373.233, persentase BEP 50%, ROI 61%, SDP 5%, DCFRR 81% dan DPBP 2,1 bulan. Disimpulkan bahwa pabrik calcium sulfite ini layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut. Kata Kunci: Desulfurisasi, Kalsium Sulfit, Kapur Tohor
