Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi berdampak pada masifnya berita yang disajikan untuk masyarakat, sedangkan tidak semua berita informasi yang beredar di media sosial selalu benar. Berita hoax yang beredar berdampak negatif terhadap masyarakat. Penyebaran hoax yang meningkat, mengakibatkan hilangnya sumber informasi yang kredibel. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya kemampuan seseorang dalam mengidentifikasi kebenaran berita atau informasi yang tersebar, penentuan keputusan seseorang dalam menilai keakuratan suatu berita berkaitan dengan bagaimana seseorang berproses untuk berpikir dalam mengambil suatu keputusan. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, penelitian ini membahas terkait fake news awareness berita politik yang beredar berdasarkan kategori usia, jenis kelamin, atau durasi membaca. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah signal detection theory, dengan parameter yang dianalisis adalah tingkat sensitivitas, respon bias, dan tingkat kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap jawaban yang diberikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 berita hoax dan 15 berita fakta yang akan disebarkan melalui kuesioner. Jumlah responden pada penelitian ini adalah 400 orang digolongkan menjadi 2 kelompok, yaitu remaja (19,9±0,94 tahun) dan orang tua (53,2 ±5,51 tahun). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai sensitivitas, respon bias, dan akurasi menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan dalam mengidentifikasi berita hoax berdasarkan kategori usia dan jenis kelamin tidak ada perbedaan. Namun berdasarkan durasi membaca menghasilkan adanya pengaruh terhadap respon bias sebesar 4,2% dan akurasi sebesar 15,48%.
