Abstract

Pra rancangan pabrik magnesium oksida dari bahan baku bittern dan batu kapur (CaCO3) didirikan dengan kapasitas produksi 65.000 ton/tahun bertujuan untuk mengurangi kebutuhan impor di Indonesia dan memenuhi kebutuhan industri yang menggunakan bahan baku magnesium oksida. Produksi magnesium oksida secara umum terbagi menjadi tiga tahapan proses. Pertama, tahap persiapan bahan baku bittern dan batu kapur. Kedua, tahap pembentukan kalsium hidroksida(Ca(OH)2) dan sintesis magnesium hidroksida (Mg(OH)2). Ketiga, tahap sintesis magnesium oksida (MgO) dengan dilakukan kalsinasi pada suhu 850 °C. Pabrik magnesium oksida ini akan didirikan di wilayah Kawasan Industri Bangkalan,Kabupaten Bangkalan, Jawa Timur dengan luas lahan sebesar 15 hektare dengan memperkerjakan 120 orang karyawan yang terbagi menjadi 3 shift dengan 8 jam kerja per shift. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi, pendirian pabrik magnesium oksida membutuhkan Fixed Capital Invesment (FCI) sebesar US$ 38.687.959,47 dan Working Capital Investment (WCI) sebesar US$ 6.827.286,96 sehingga Total Capital Investment (TCI) yang dibutuhkan sebesar US$ 45.515.246,43 dengan Total Production Cost (TPC) sebesar US$ 130.801.117,85. Pabrik kalsium karbida yang dirancang memiliki Return on Investment (ROI) sebesar 89,3%, Net Present Value (NPV) sebesar US$ 475.351.241,39, Discounted Cash Flow Rate of Return (DCFR) sebesar 42,2%, dan Discounted Payback Period (DPBP) sebesar 1,572 tahun. Berdasarkan parameter tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pabrik magnesium oksida yang dirancang layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.
