Abstract

Terminal angkutan umum sebagai ruang publik memegang peran penting dalam mendukung aktivitas mobilitas dan kenyamanan masyarakat. Namun, kondisi eksisting terminal di Kelurahan Baru Tengah menghadapi permasalahan serius, seperti keberadaan bangunan tidak resmi di area terminal yang mengganggu fungsi utama, serta minimnya fasilitas pendukung dan penataan sirkulasi yang belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan merumuskan konsep revitalisasi ruang publik di terminal angkutan umum di Kelurahan Baru Tengah, Balikpapan Barat, serta merumuskan strategi revitalisasi dengan pendekatan estetika dan fungsionalitas. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, serta survei persepsi pengguna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara fungsional, fasilitas utama dan penunjang belum tertata maksimal dan belum memenuhi standar pelayanan Terminal Tipe C, terutama pada aspek kebersihan, keamanan, dan kenyamanan. Secara estetika, masyarakat mendukung integrasi unsur budaya lokal Kalimantan ke dalam desain terminal, seperti ornamen khas pada tiang bangunan dan bentuk atap lengkung modern. Oleh karena itu, desain revitalisasi difokuskan pada penataan ulang ruang, peningkatan kualitas fasilitas, dan penyelesaian permasalahan fisik, guna menciptakan terminal yang lebih fungsional, nyaman, dan layak digunakan.
