Abstract

Pencemaran air akibat limbah industri pertambangan batubara menjadi permasalahan lingkungan yang mendesak untuk ditangani. Karbon aktif merupakan material adsorben yang memiliki luas permukaan dan porositas tinggi, sehingga efektif dalam menyerap berbagai zat pencemar dari air. Karbon aktif dapat dibuat dari dua macam sumber bahan baku, seperti dari tumbuhan dan limbah batubara. Karbon aktif dibuat melalui proses karbonisasi dan aktivasi menggunakan larutan H3PO4 dengan variasi 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5. Karakterisasi karbon aktif dilakukan melalui uji BET (Brunauer Emmett Teller) untuk mengetahui luas permukaan spesifik, SEM-EDS untuk mengetahui morfologi dan kandungan yang ada pada karbon aktif bottom ash dan Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) dilakukan untuk mengetahui daya serap dari karbon aktif terhadap Cu dan Fe. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi berat massa 1:2 memiliki luas permukaan karbon yang paling besar yaitu sebesar 286,275 m2g-1dan menghasilkan daya serap logam berat fe sebesar 96,15% dan Cu sebesar 97,35%.
