Abstract

Pertambangan batu bara merupakan unggulan pada pendapatan Indonesia. Namun batu bara ini membutuhkan ring hammer untuk menghancurkan batu bara sesuai spesifikasi. Proses double quenching dan tempering pada penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kekerasan dan meningkatkan ketangguhan ring hammer. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian dan analisis melalui metalografi, impak, dan hardness untuk mengetahui pengaruh double quenching dan tempering. Hasil pengamatan mikrostruktur didapat martensit yang bersifat keras dan getas, struktur mikro martensite temper setelah proses tempering dengan variasi 350°C, 450°C, dan 550°C. Didapatkan nilai hardness pada spesimen as cast memiliki kekerasan 31,8 HRC. Setelah dilakukan quenching kekerasan meningkat 56,5 HRC dikarenakan martensite. Pada proses double quenching (Q900°C–Q850°C), kekerasan menjadi 52,5 HRC. Selanjutnya proses tempering penurunan kekerasan secara bertahap: 49,6 HRC pada 350°C, 44,3 HRC pada 450°C, dan 39 HRC pada 550°C. Hasil data uji impak quenching pertama yaitu 0,10 J/mm2 dan meningkat pada quenching kedua 0.13 J/mm2. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan variasi tempering dengan temperatur 350°C diapatkan nilai impak 0,16 J/mm2, variasi 450°C diapatkan nilai 0,18 J/mm2, dan variasi 550°C dengan nilai 0,20 J/mm2. Dimana dari proses tempering ini semakin tinggi temperatur tempering dapat semakin meningkatkan ketangguhan dari ring hammer.
