Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini menganalis briket biomassa dengan menggunakan batok kelapa sebagai bahan penggantinya batu bara dengan pencampuran bahan dalam membuat briket merupakan tahap yang menentukan kualitas briket yang dihasilkan. Dimana jumlah dan bahan yang digunakan akan berpengaruh terhadap kualitas suatu briket. Penelitian ini juga bermaksud untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi jumlah perekat tepung maizena dan tepung tapioka terhadap karakteristik briket yang dihasilkan yang meliputi nilai kalor dan kadar air. Penggunaan batu untuk mencetak briket dan variasi campuran jumlah perekat tepung tapioka dan tepung maizena variasi 1, variasi 2, variasi 3, variasi 4, dan varasi 5. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental dengan proses pengarangan kemudian dilakukan penghalusan arang menggunakan ayakan mesh 60, lalu ditambahkan perekat seperti tepung tapioka dan tepung maizena, selanjutnya dilakukan pencetakan briket dengan ukuran diameter 70 mm dan tinggi 40 mm dengan penekanan batu 15 kg, kemudian briket dikeringkan menggunakan oven dengan suhu 105ºC. Kemudian dilakukan pengambilan data, meliputi nilai kalor dan kadar air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai kalor tertinggi pada variasi 1 sebesar 6.034 kal/g dan nilai kadar air tertinggi didapatkan campuran variasi 2 sebesar 6,69%. Sedangkan nilai kalor terendah pada variasi 4 dengan nilai 5.497%, nilai kadar air terendah didapatkan variasi campuran 1 sebesar 4,16 %. Maka dilihat dari variabel yang divariasikan hasil dari nilai kalor dan kadar air telah memenuhi standar SNI 01-6235-2000.
