Abstract
Pra rancangan pabrik kimia benzena berbahan baku toluena dan hidrogen dengan kapasitas 100.000 ton/tahun akan dibangun di Kawasan Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC) Kabupaten Cilegon, Banten. Bahan baku berupa toluena diperoleh dari PT Chandra Asri (Cilegon, Banten), PT Transpasific Petrochemical (Tuban, Jawa Timur) dan PT Pertamina RU IV (Cilacap, Jawa Tengah) dengan kebutuhan toluena sebesar 114.623,452 ton/tahun. Sementara itu, bahan baku berupa oksigen diperoleh melalui PT Air Liquide Indonesia yang juga terletak di Cilegon, Banten dengan kebutuhan sebesar 3.368,677 ton/tahun. Pabrik ini dirancang beroperasi secara kontinyu selama 24 jam per hari dan 330 hari per tahun. Proses produksi yang digunakan adalah Proses Hidrodealkilasi dengan penggunaan katalis nickel-molybdenum/alumina pada suhu 550oC dan 19,738 atm yang direaksikan di reaktor fix bed multitube. Reaksi berlangsung secara eksotermis dengan konversi sebesar 74,3%. Campuran gas keluaran reaktor akan dialirkan ke dalam serangkaian pendingin serta parsial kondeser dan kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam sebuah knock-out drum untuk dipisahkan berdasarkan fasenya. Selanjutnya, alliran fase liquid keluaran drum tersebut dipanaskan dan diumpankan ke dalam menara distilasi untuk dimurnikan hingga mencapai kemurnian 99,9%. Dalam operasionalnya, proses produksi perlu didukung dengan adanya unit utilitas yang menyediakan air untuk air pendingin sebanyak 186.242,91 kg/jam. Kemudian, kebutuhan saturated steam sebesar 26.372,02 kg/jam dan superheated steam sebesar 35.813,86 kg/jam, kebutuhan listrik untuk proses sebesar 996,74 kWh, kebutuhan udara 211,02 kg/jam dan kebutuhan bahan bakar sebesar 427,63 kg/jam. Pabrik ini memiliki nilai total investasi awal sebesar $28.914.785,64 untuk dapat didirikan dengan analisis profitabilitas dievaluasi melalui parameter parameter seperti BEP dan DCFR dengan nilai masing-masing sebesar 64% dan 32%, serta dengan sales revenue sebesar 52%. Berdasarkan tinjauan parameter-parameter dari segi teknis dan ekonomis, pabrik benzena berbahan baku toluena dan hidrogen dengan kapasitas 100.000 ton/tahun layak untuk dikaji lebih lanjut.
