Abstract
Fly ash merupakan limbah padat hasil pembakaran batubara yang kaya akan senyawa silika (SiO₂), alumina (Al₂O₃), dan besi oksida (Fe₂O₃), sehingga memiliki potensi tinggi sebagai bahan adsorben untuk mengurangi pencemaran logam berat dalam air limbah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas fly ash yang telah diaktivasi menggunakan larutan asam sulfat (H₂SO₄) dalam menurunkan kadar logam Fe dan Mn pada air lindi dari Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) Manggar. Aktivasi dilakukan dengan variasi konsentrasi H₂SO₄ sebesar 10%, 12%, dan 14% untuk meningkatkan luas permukaan dan jumlah situs aktif pada fly ash . Proses adsorpsi dilakukan dengan dosis adsorben sebesar 25 gram dalam 250 mL air lindi, waktu kontak selama 60 menit, dan kecepatan pengadukan 300 rpm. Karakterisasi morfologi dan struktur pori dilakukan dengan metode SEM dan BET, sedangkan efisiensi penurunan logam dianalisis menggunakan AAS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivasi kimia berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas adsorpsi fly ash , dengan konsentrasi H₂SO₄ optimal pada 14% yang memberikan penurunan signifikan terhadap kadar Fe dan Mn. Pemanfaatan fly ash teraktivasi H₂SO₄ terbukti efektif, efisien, dan berkelanjutan sebagai solusi pengolahan air lindi yang ramah lingkungan
