Abstract

The Dual Active Bridge (DAB) Converter is a bidirectional DC-DC power converter that is commonly applied in battery-based energy storage systems due to its high efficiency and flexible power control characteristics. This research focuses on analyzing the performance of battery voltage regulation using a DAB Converter controlled by the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) method. The study is carried out under different initial State of Charge (SoC) conditions of the Li-ion battery, namely 0%, 25%, and 50%, as well as input voltage variations of 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V, in order to observe their influence on voltage and current responses during the charging process. The system is modeled and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink, with key parameters including output voltage, charging current, voltage deviation, and system stability during transient and steady-state conditions being evaluated. The simulation results indicate that the PWM-controlled DAB Converter is capable of regulating the output voltage close to the desired battery reference value with a relatively fast settling time. Higher charging currents are observed at lower SoC levels, while more stable operating conditions with smaller voltage deviations are achieved as the SoC increases. Furthermore, changes in the input voltage do not significantly degrade the output voltage stability, demonstrating that the proposed system maintains reliable performance under different input voltage levels.
