Abstract

Industri pengecoran aluminium terus berkembang seiring meningkatnya kebutuhan akan produk dengan kualitas mekanik yang baik. Salah satu faktor penting yang mempengaruhi kualitas hasil pengecoran adalah laju pendinginan selama proses solidifikasi, yang dapat dikendalikan melalui pemilihan media pendingin. Perbedaan laju pendinginan akan mempengaruhi pembentukan struktur mikro dan sifat mekanik material. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi media pendingin terhadap kekuatan tekan, kekerasan, dan struktur mikro Aluminium 6061 hasil pengecoran metode direct casting. Media pendingin yang digunakan meliputi udara, air, larutan garam 5%, air es, dan bromus. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi uji tekan, uji kekerasan Brinell, serta pengamatan struktur mikro untuk menentukan ukuran butir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi media pendingin berpengaruh terhadap sifat mekanik Aluminium 6061. Pendinginan udara menghasilkan nilai kekuatan tekan terendah sebesar 245,33 MPa dan kekerasan sebesar 34,21 HBW, sedangkan pendinginan air es menghasilkan nilai tertinggi dengan kekuatan tekan 309,48 MPa dan kekerasan 43,50 HBW. Hasil pengamatan struktur mikro menunjukkan bahwa pendinginan dengan laju lebih tinggi menghasilkan ukuran butir yang lebih halus dibandingkan pendinginan lambat. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan laju pendinginan melalui pemilihan media pendingin yang tepat mampu meningkatkan sifat mekanik dan memperhalus struktur mikro Aluminium 6061 hasil pengecoran.
