Abstract

PT Kaltim Kariangau Terminal, as one of the strategic container terminals in East kalimantan, has diverse job charateristics, ranging from operational activities with high physical demands and dynamic work postures to administrative tasks dominated by static sitting postures and prolonged computer use. These differences in job charateristics potentially lead to varied ergonomic risks, if not managed properly, they can result in increased productvity, and overall OSH disturbances. This study aims to analyze the implementation of ergonomics in improving occupational safety and health in operational processes at PT Kaltim Kariangau Terminal by identifying ergonomic risk levels among operational and administrative workers. The research method used is an observational descriptive approach with ergonomic assessment using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method for operational workers and the Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA) method for administrative workers. The results of the study indicate that operational employees have varying levels of ergonomic risk, with REBA scores ranging from 3–10, where side loader operators have a low risk (score 3), forklift and reach stacker operators have a moderate risk (score 4), while container crane operators, reefer control officers (score 8), tallymen and reefer officers (score 10) are included in the high risk category, while administrative employees based on the ROSA method show a moderate to high level of ergonomic risk influenced by non-neutral sitting postures, long-term computer use, and inappropriate workstation designs. The main risk factors found include non-neutral work postures, static and repetitive activities, long work durations, and inappropriate workstations. Therefore, ergonomic improvements are needed in the form of adjusting work postures, redesigning workstations, increasing ergonomic awareness, and implementing ergonomic policies in the company to reduce the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) and improve work safety and productivity.
